MODERN GLAM STYLE OASIS

Meet Diana – my good friend who offered me to show up her home and share a story about how she envisioned her future home to be like and how it ended up.

Our conversation started in the middle of the work week at her home. It is quiet and calm down here, a lot of space for your thougths to roll, as Diana says herself “while her daughter is still very young she did not want to cramp up the space with a lot of furniture and items”. And instantly adding up that she is still in a search for some pieces to her home, in mind she has, one of A. Rutkauskas paintings. Rusty, brown-is colours are the main accents around the whole house and the painting would just perfectly fit into it without distracting anyone’s attention. And here I am – acknowledging that the interior style of her home is reflecting her own style – classic with a couple of luxury details.

Diana is straightforward with me – she bought the flat with partial finish, so the rest of the interior was let up to her imagination. At the very begging of 1st quarantine she started looking for a family home for herself and her daughter. At that time the flat was reserved for another family, but she still insisted on checking it out, and that was it “as soon as I entered the place, I understood that this should be mine, the atmosphere, the surroundings – everything had a tick in my list”. Luckily for her, the family declined their offer and this is how she got the place. Although, “the people who had reserved the place had an interior designer and whole plans on paper which I did not like.” So that’s when she decided to put her hands into this.

Modern glam – this is how I define her style. Couple repeating accents, textures and shapes: “Swarowski” crystal chandeliers leading through the whole hallway are in perfect sync with cupboard handles, furniture brings cozyness to the place with it’s velvet surfaces, marble tiles follows from the hallway floor to the bathroom and repetitious motifs passes to the living space and finishes with marble center-piece table. And of course, the final aspect – glass and mirror symbiosis gives the feeling of extended space and openess.

When asked, if she liked the process of being behind the wheel of setting up her home, Diana says “definitely yes”. “Being in contact with suppliers, choosing materials, looking for the best options and combining textures and fabrics gave me huge satisfaction” she adds. But also, there is always some room for improvement, when asked what she would change, Diana says that mostly it would be easy things like colour palette of the flat, furniture, but nothing extravagant or unusual – “I would stay faithful to my personal taste”.

Diana is the perfect example of how one’s personal style reflects interior of the home. And when there is such a matching energy between the two – no wonder that the space gives you tranquillity and the feeling of being safe at your own home and that it’s the place where you want to spend most of your time.
